Monotype Deepdene type printed on Mohawk Superfine in Fabriano wraps.
The lake's eye clouds and shuts.
Kame and kettle, the prairie
accepts the weight of each new winter,
bears traces of an older lover.
But these two walk without touching,
leave prints on paths softened
by a December thaw.
She fits her hand into the cup
of an empty nest, and he strokes
lichens radiating on pale rock.
She almost touches him, stops---
tracks old scars and turns back.
