Sid Gershgoren
Sid Gershgoren grew up in Los Angeles and first started to write what he calls "real" poetry his last year of high school, when he met Thomas McGrath, "who got me on the right path to language", he says. He's published five books, including Past Rentals, The Wandering Heron, and Symphony (all through Red Dragonfly Press) and has published widely in various magazines and anthologies. He is currently writing villanelles, a complex poetic form introduced into England in the Renaissance. Up to this time, he has written more than 190 of them and will probably continue "in this madness" for "a little while longer. At last count he had approximately twenty unpublished manuscripts, including several volumes of haiku, a novel for juveniles, a book of curses, and a few more volumes of poetry. He intends to continue in this same vein of verbal madness.
